MSME’s are classified as per their turnover and investment:

  • Medium enterprises: Investment up to ₹50 crore and turnover up to ₹250 crore

MSME-registered businesses can also avail collateral-free loans under schemes like the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), making it easier for small businesses to get financial support without risking personal or business assets.

  4. Reimbursement of ISO Certification Expenses: MSMEs can claim reimbursement for expenses incurred in obtaining ISO certifications, which helps in improving product quality and gaining international credibility.

  5. Eligible for Government Tenders: Many government tenders are reserved for MSME-registered businesses, offering them exclusive opportunities to work with government entities and boost their business growth.

  6. Tax Benefits: Registered MSMEs enjoy various income tax benefits, such as Presumptive Taxation Scheme, Tax Holidays for newly set-up manufacturing companies, exemption for Export-Oriented MSMEs, deduction for startups (read more about this in our blog no.6 on startup taxation) and many more. These concessions ease financial pressures and allow small businesses to reinvest in growth and development.
